Design Review Checking Sheets

Dave has just finished revising several p-way design checking spreadsheets, which will hopefully form part of the PWI British Railway Track Volume 3 book (publication date unknown at present).  These checking sheets were originally developed for the West Coast Route Modernisation project, by Roy Hickman (Network Rail).

These checking sheets can be used as an aide memoir to remind you what you need to be looking for in a design, and can be used by anyone responsible for checking p-way designs (plain line or S&C) - this could be anyone working for the Design Contractor, the Principal Contractor, 3rd party check, or the Client.

These checking sheets have recently been updated to take into account the re-numbering of Network Rail's business documents - 23rd September 2008.
There are five sets of checking sheets for various stages of a project life-cycle.  These are:

        1. Feasibility study 
        2. Form A document
        3. Form A General Arrangement (Horizontal Alignment) drawing
        4. Form A and Form B Long Section (Vertical Alignment) drawing
        5. Form B document and General Arrangement drawing
There is no checking set for Form C's as this should be a simple review of the Manufacturer's drawings against the approved Form B design drawings.
Feasibility Checking Sheets
Feasibility Study		 This set of sheets is for reviewing projects at GRIP Stages 1 and 2.
Form A Document Checking Sheets
Form A Document		 This set of sheets is for reviewing the Form A document that has been submitted with a design, usually at GRIP Stage 4.
Form A General Arrangement Checking Sheets
Form A General Arrangement Drawing		 This set of sheets is for reviewing and checking the Form A General Arrangement (Horizontal Alignment) design drawing (GRIP Stage 4).
Form A and B Vertical Alignment Drawing Checking Sheets
Form A and B Vertical Alignment Drawing		 This set of sheets is for reviewing and checking the Long Section (Vertical Alignment) design drawing, submitted with either the Form A or Form B (GRIP Stages 4 or 5).
Form B Document and General Arrangement Drawing Checking Sheets
Form B Document and General Arrangement Drawing 		This final set of sheets is for reviewing and checking the Form B document and General Arrangement (Horizontal Alignment) design drawing (GRIP Stage 5).
